Fire!

On the same day we found out that Drew contracted hand, foot and mouth disease (which is in no way related to hoof and mouth disease), we also had a small fire on the slope behind our house. I saw flames right behind our house so my mom called 911 and within minutes the fire and sheriff's department were in our backyard. Here is the link to the story: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/25864004
There were 2 helicopters dumping water on the flames from the Regional Park lake below us and must have flown by our house a dozen times, rattling the house each time. A member of the sheriff's department took this photo of us and the helicopter!

Drew watches Grammy and Daddy and the firefighters from the safety of indoors.
But she has clothes and shoes on in case of an evacuation. I actually went in and woke her up from a much-needed nap just to be safe.
"It will be ok, Nikki. I'll protect you, just hold my hand."

Drew and Teagen

This summer I got to go to my first birthday party - Taylor Dixon turned 2 and I played with her cousin, Teagen, my new play buddy. I love giving her hugs, even if it is more like a tackle. I definitely didn't like the sand at first, but by the end of the party I loved the feel of it between my toes!

I also got to play with Teagen at the jungle gym in the mall. I loved trying to walk up the slide so Mommy had to show me how to slide down it.

I was so excited I just had to give Teagen a hug!
Since Teagen is a few months younger than me, I helped her with some of the games.
I really liked this car, unfortunately it may be where I contracted hand-foot-and mouth disease. I have little spots on my body and a sore throat, along with a diaper rash and my 8th tooth poking through, it has been a rough couple of days. I'm a trooper though, so don't worry too much, I don't let anything get in the way of playing and eating!

My friend, Meghan, and me at my birthday

I like talking to Meghan, she understands me. I guess that's what happens when you're only 3 weeks apart!

Drew's First Birthday party!

Here I am with Daddy after my party was over. I had a great time and even took a good nap afterward. Thank you to everyone who came and made my party special!
Here I am in my birthday outfit!
...opening one of my many gifts - thank you GodPappy and Auntie Mo!
I love my new dolly stroller! Thank you Meghan!
...I ate an entire cupcake and some sorbet all on my own.

Happy Birthday week to Drew!

According to Daddy, I get a whole week to celebrate my birthday, not just one day. The day before my birthday, Mommy and Daddy took me to see the Care Bears 2 movie- we saw about 30 minutes of it and then I thought it would be more fun to run around the lobby.
My actual birthday started with a nice trip to the doctor's office. I am 32 inches tall (95th percentile, thanks Grampy!) and 22 lbs.- which means I've lost almost 3 lbs. since I was 9 months old! Then the nurses gave me 3 shots on my birthday, nice scheduling, Mom. To make me feel better, Mommy and Grammy went swimming with me.

Then, we all went to the OC Fair! I had a bleu cheese burger (Mommy's), a turkey leg (Grampy's), a cupcake (Grammy's) and some ice cream (Mommy's)!

My favorite part was all of the lights, sounds and kids. Grampy's favorite part was the food, that was my second favorite.
Here I am at the petting zoo, all I kept thinking was "those are BABIES? They are bigger than me!"
My big birthday bash is on Sunday, so I will show some more pictures and video after the party. Until then, I'd like to say Happy Birthday to Papa! I miss you!

Even more pictures from Hawaii

I love going on vacation. Everyone gives me bites of ice cream, I get to go swimming everyday and I get to eat grown-up food the whole week!
Here is Daddy and me at breakfast at the Westin. I had some waffles, an omelet, a smoothie and lots of watermelon.
Happy 4th of July! We barbecued some fish and hot dogs and watched fireworks shoot off of Lahaina. I'm saying "oooooh!"
Mommy and Daddy didn't get much sleep on this trip- that's why Mommy looks a little delirious. I slept in the same room and woke up at least once a night just to check that they were still there.
I'm trying to stop Grammy from getting on the plane. I want to stay in Maui forever!

More pictures from Hawaii

My mermaid friend likes to swim too.
I'm not too sure about this kids pirate ship play area. There are boys, and rocks and waterfalls and things that squirt you when you aren't looking.
I'll just hang here with Mommy.
Really? More pictures?
Auntie Kels taught me how to be a monster. I'm scaring all the people on our back lawn right now. Mommy will put a video up soon I'm sure.

My first trip to Maui!

Here I am, listening to Auntie Kels' iPod. It was a long flight.
Going down my first real slide with Mommy. It was a short ride since Mommy was almost touching the ground before we took off.
Enjoying my morning pog while gazing out off our lanai - that means porch to all you howlies.
Shopping with the girls, I just loved this rocking chair!
Swimming on the kiddie step...by the end of the trip I knew exactly how to get from our room to the pool. I have turned in to quite a fish...

We are here!

We finally made it to the OC and have been here for a little over a week. Here are a few pictures (out of order) to get you caught up...

Happy Father's Day, Daddy! Drew picked out some Pro-V1 golfballs and a couple t-shirts.

C'mon, Nikki - this is how you go up the stairs. Just don't push me this time.

You'd better stay there, Nikki! You're still a bit bigger than me.

So, here I am in my new (temporary) home! There is lots more rooms to roam in and I think I have toys in just about every room in the house. And I even have a big furry dog to kiss when she lets me. I miss everyone in Memphis lots and can't wait until they come visit me!

This is one of my favorite pasttimes.
So is eating...in case you haven't noticed- so much so I never even notice when it doesn't make it in my mouth.
I thought I'd do my part to help clean up the apartment, after all I did make most of the mess.
Gramps makes funny faces, but I still like to frown.
After being stuck in the Memphis airport for 5 hours, I finally got a little sleepy.
